| ITEM: | Fixed Hanger - 12mm DIA bolt hole |
| USAGE: | For
recreational climbing, industrial safety and access systems. Theses hangers are designed to be used as belay and lead point anchors in conjunctions with the appropriate expansion or chemically fixed bolt or stud where continuous long-term loading is not expected. |
| MATERIAL: | 304 stainless steel plate |
| FABRICATION PROCESS: | Laser cut with nitrogen, bent and tumbled from 3mm-plate stock |
| QUALITY CONTROL: |
Visual inspection of raw product and random testing of samples from each batch |
| PROTOTYPE
AND PRODUCTION TESTING: |
Tensile load tests to destruction with random samples |
| TEST EQUIPMENT: | All testing is subcontracted to A.Noble & sons. And is therefore tested on their hydraulic test station. Attachment of the hanger is by a 10mm DIA bolt and a 6mm DIA shackle. |
| TEST RESULTS: | First
visible distortion - 10 kN Gross distortion (marked distortion of eye region 20-22 kN) Rupture 36KN |
| REMARKS: | Failure is generally due to rupture of the eye region of the hanger after extensive distortion. (Up to 170% of its original length) |
| RECOMMENDATIONS: | Suitable for use in rock climbing where UTS of 20 30 KN are required. For industrial use, safe working loads of 20 KN for tensile, shear and combined stress. Due to the failure mode encountered, and the nature of the intended use a safety factor of 1.5 is considered to be adequate. Prior to each use each hanger should be visually inspected. Any distortion or apparent damage to the hanger indicates that the hanger should not be used and should be removed or rendered un-usable. |
